Does sex case reversal mean an end of such military prosecutions?

The highest court for the U.S. armed services has issued a decision that at least one legal expert says means the end of similar prosecutions in the future. As a result of the ruling, a U.S. Air Force sergeant's conviction on a charge of aggravated assault is reversed.

Sexual assault prevention officer: Every case is different, complex

The Navy captain in charge of preventing and responding to sexual assault incidents within Fleet Force Command recently offered some insight into the kinds of cases he often sees. Referring to claims brought in the last few years, Navy Captain Chuck Marks said that sexual assault involving unknown assailants is uncommon, as are situations involving officers who have allegedly assaulted lower-ranking sailors.

Coast Guard personnel sentenced for sexual assault charges

District of Colombia readers may wish to note that a Coast Guard petty officer has recently been convicted after facing charges for sexual assault. These charges stem from incidents where the man supposedly filmed and recorded women as they were having medical tests performed. In addition to sexual assault, he was also convicted of tricking women into having medical tests done that were not necessary. The women affected by these actions included military personnel and civilians.
